The Kia EV9 all-electric flagship SUV has won the highest honor at the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024 competition, taking home the coveted 'Best of the Best' prize in the Cars and Motorcycles category.
The Red Dot awards are among the most prestigious global design accolades. The top 'Best of the Best' distinction is reserved only for groundbreaking designs judged by a panel of international experts to demonstrate exceptional innovation and influence.
For Kia, this marks the 29th Red Dot win since 2009 and significant validation of the brand's 'Opposites United' design philosophy which guided the development of the EV9's striking and futuristic yet classic aesthetic.
Key EV9 design elements highlighted include the upright stance, sleek sculptural shapes, Digital Tiger Face, vertical headlamps, and Digital Pattern Lighting Grille meant to evoke a harmonious blend of nature and modernity.
Beyond visual appeal, the award recognizes how the EV9 embodies Kia's sustainability initiatives as the first model applying their three-pillar eco-design strategy phasing out animal leathers and increasing sustainable materials.
The EV9 rides on Kia's dedicated Electric Global Modular Platform and is offered with two battery options - a 76.1 kWh pack with 370 km range or long-range 99.8 kWh version enabling up to 489 km per charge. Dual-motor AWD variants are also available.
Since its 2023 launch, the three-row EV9 has amassed numerous other major accolades including World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and an iF Design Award Gold prize.
Karim Habib, Kia's Head of Global Design, hailed the 'Best of the Best' honor as "immensely gratifying" acknowledgment of the brand's innovative design approach "pushing boundaries" and "bringing inspiring solutions" through the EV9.
The award further cements the EV9's status as a pioneering mass-market entry elevating Kia's brand prestige and market positioning in the hotly contested electric SUV space.
